“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.”

Pat Sczebel and Todd Twining wrote a children’s song that says,

Love, joy, peace, and patience too
Grow in those who trust in You
All who put their hope in Christ
Kindness, goodness, faithfulness
Self-control and gentleness
Live in those who have new life.
I want to be like Jesus
To walk and talk like Jesus
I want to live like one who follows Him
I want to love like Jesus
To give my all like Jesus
I want to live like one who follows Him.

This week at our Coffee County Ministerial Association meeting we were looking at Philippians chapter 2 where it says, “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.”

As we studied that passage, I found myself compiling from those verses what it means to follow Christ as our example.  Here’s what I found.

Following Christ means;

Being of the same mind,
Same love,
United in spirit,
Intent on one purpose.
No selfishness,
No shallow pride or conceit.
Humble in mind,
Looking up to one another
Placing more importance on one another.
Disregarding our personal interests
Looking out instead for the interests of others.
Having a Christ-like attitude.
Emptying ourselves,
Living out our salvation with fear and trembling.
No grumbling.
No disputing.
Being blameless, pure, and holy.
Being innocent.
Recognizing we are all children of God.
Being a light in this present darkness.
Holding fast to the Scriptures.
Rejoicing
And sharing our joy with others.
Being like Jesus.

Imagine a family where that attitude permeates everything.

Imagine church where that attitude permeates everything.

Imagine a community where that attitude permeates everything.

Now you are imagining what many are praying for when they pray for REVIVAL.   “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 2:5 (KJV)

So let it be Lord Jesus, let it be!
