What Scripture is Shaping You?

Family Devotional Reading

Paul reminds us in Ephesians 3 that God’s great mystery has been revealed in Jesus. The whole story of Scripture points to Him—not a made-up version of Jesus, but the real Savior who changes everything. When we read the Bible this way, it stops being a book of arguments and becomes an invitation to follow Jesus more closely.
In Ephesians 4, Paul explains what following Jesus looks like in everyday life: taking off our old ways of thinking and living, and putting on a new self that is being made like Christ. The goal of reading Scripture isn’t just to know more, but to be changed. As we slow down, ask God for understanding, and respond with obedience, the Bible reshapes our hearts, habits, and relationships so we can live as part of Jesus’ story.

Short Family Activity

“Take Off / Put On” Practice
Give each family member two small pieces of paper. On one, write or draw something you want to take off (an attitude, habit, or reaction that doesn’t reflect Jesus). On the other, write or draw what you want to put on instead (patience, kindness, courage, forgiveness). Share briefly, then pray together, asking God to help your family live out His Word this week.
