Family Devotional

Sometimes the Bible talks about things that seem strange to us. In this passage, Paul talks about head coverings, but his bigger message isn't really about clothing. He's teaching the church how to worship in a way that honors God and shows love and respect for one another.

The church in Corinth lived in a culture where clothing and hairstyles communicated important messages about honor, identity, and respect. Paul wanted the believers to think carefully about how their actions affected others during worship. His concern wasn't simply about following a dress code. It was about helping the church stay focused on Jesus instead of becoming distracted by arguments, pride, or cultural misunderstandings.

Paul also reminds us that God created men and women with equal value and unique gifts. In fact, he assumes that both men and women are praying and speaking God's truth when the church gathers. Everyone has a role to play because the Holy Spirit gives gifts to every believer.

Jesus showed us what true leadership looks like. He didn't use His authority to gain power over others. He used it to serve, love, and lift people up. As His followers, we're called to do the same. Whether we're leading, serving, speaking, or listening, our goal is always to help others know Jesus better.

When God's people gather, everyone matters. Every voice, every gift, every act of service can point others to Christ. Instead of asking, "What do I want?" we should ask, "How can I honor God and encourage the people around me?"

Family Prayer

Jesus, thank You for creating each of us with purpose and giving every believer gifts to serve You. Help us use our words and actions to honor You and encourage others. Teach us to serve like You did—with humility, kindness, and love. May our church always be a place where everyone is welcomed, valued, and encouraged to use the gifts You've given them for Your glory. Amen.

Family Challenge

This week, each family member should choose one way to serve someone else without being asked. At the end of the week, share how serving others helped you become more like Jesus. Remember: every act of love, no matter how small, can help others see Him.
