Bible Readings: Isaiah 56:1-7; Psalm 27:4-9 Hear my voice when I call, Lord; be merciful to me and answer me. My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, Lord, I will seek. Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; you have been my helper. Do not reject me or forsake me, God my Savior. Psalm 27:7-9 And foreigners who bind themselves to the Lord to minister to him, to love the name of the Lord, and to be his servants, all who keep the Sabbath without desecrating it and who hold fast to my covenant— these I will bring to my holy mountain and give them joy in my house of prayer.Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house will be called a house of prayer for all nations. Isaiah 56:6-7 “God my Savior” (Psalm 27:9) David knew God to be his Savior. This is why his cry for God’s help is bookended with words of faith and worship (vs. 1-6, 13-14). These words are very personal to David, just as they are for us when we declare Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior! This testimony becomes for us our personal life anthem – “God my Savior!” The prophet Isaiah moves us from a personal testimony to a declaration that God is Saviour of the world. Anyone who “bind themselves to the Lord” will be “accepted”. This declaration is fully realized in Jesus Christ who became the Savior of the world so that “everyone who believes may have eternal life in him” (John 3:15). Often it is good on a long journey to pause and take in the beauty of it all! Maybe today will be a good day to pause and see the beauty of God as our Saviour: Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee How great Thou art, how great Thou art Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
