Bible Readings: Hebrews 9:11-15; Psalm 23:1-6

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,

     he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
     for his name’s sake.
Psalm 23:1-3

How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!  Hebrews 9:14

“Everywhere the statues were coming to life….  ‘Ooh!’ Said Susan in a different tone. ‘Look! I wonder – I mean, is it safe?’
Lucy looked and saw that Aslan had just breathed on the feet of a stone giant.
‘It’s all right!’ shouted Aslan joyously. ‘Once the feet are put right, all the rest of him will follow.’”

One of the most beautiful portions of Scripture, Psalm 23, has been used to lead people through life’s darkest valleys – “The Lord is my Shepherd…he leads me…he guides me along the right paths…”.  This Psalm reminds us that if we put our trust in the right place, the Shepherd, then everything else will fall into place – “Once the feet are put right, all the rest …will follow”.

Jesus is the one in whom we take our lead from.  It is through Jesus that we are rescued from the path that “lead[s] to death” and brought on the way of life where we serve “the living God” (Hebrews 9:14).   Jesus “guides me along the right paths”!

Have your feet been put right?  Are you carefully following the only One who will lead you to life and victory?  Take some time today in prayer to ask God to set your feet right and open yourself up to the Spirit’s correction as you seek to follow Jesus.
