STOUT MEMORIAL

WE EXIST TO SEE ALL PEOPLE FIND HOPE, HEALING AND WHOLENESS THROUGH JESUS CHRIST.

What makes a sunrise special?

Song writers from Charles Wesley to Dolly Parton have found inspiration in the morning sunrise.  From “Christ, Whose Glory that Fills the Skies” to “I can see the light of a brand-new day”, writers have penned feelings into a sunrise.

Whatever the night of darkness may have held for us, the sun comes up in the morning.  And that sun reminds us of the resurrection power of the Son.  Night gives way today.  Jesus broke the bonds of death and darkness and because of him, we need no longer fear death.

As Frederick Buechner wrote in his book Whistling in the Dark: “When it comes to just what happened, there can be no certainty.  That something unimaginable happened, there can be no doubt.” (p. 42)

Death was not the final word in Jesus’ story. As Adam Hamilton says to each of his Easter morning worshipers, “I not only believe it, I am counting on it.

“He lives, he Lives, Christ Jesus lives today!”
