WEST VIRGINIA CONFERENCEThe United Methodist Church Notes from WV Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. Most of the discussion centered around the 2026 budget and the 4 Amendments to the Constitution.Amendment #3—Racial JusticeThis amendment strengthens that commitment for explicitly recognizing the church’s role in combating racism within the denomination and in broader society. Amendment #4—Clergy Delegates to General Conference This amendment ensures that those voting for Clery delegates have met denominational standards for theological education. Not that kind!!!Residents in McDowell County will have hundreds more gallons of clean water, thanks to the inaugural West Virginia Annual Conference 5K. One hundred sixteen runners and walkers between the ages of 12 and 90 participated in the Thursday evening event, which looped through the West Virginia Wesleyan College campus, athletic fields and river walk. They, along with non-racing financial donors, raised $5,363 for the McDowell Water Project. Moll explained that the 500-gallon water truck that currently serves McDowell County, where other water sources are contaminated, costs $30 a month to fill six times. The water truck, also known as a water buffalo, was purchased with a grant from the United Methodist Committee on Relief’s Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) program. Our Adult Sunday School class gave $1,000 in addition with hopes of expanding program into Wyoming County.
