STOUT MEMORIAL UMCISSUE 34, VOLUME 4CONNECTIONSAugust 10, 2025WE EXIST TO SEE ALL PEOPLE FIND HOPE, HEALING AND WHOLENESS THROUGH JESUS CHRIST. Faith That Looks Forward “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1)This week’s readings remind us that faith is more than belief—it’s trust in God’s promises, even when we don’t see the full picture. In Hebrews 11, we hear about Abraham and others who followed God’s call without knowing exactly where it would lead. They lived as “strangers and foreigners,” holding on to the hope of a better country—a heavenly one.Likewise, in Luke 12, Jesus encourages His disciples, saying, “Do not be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” He reminds us to stay ready, to live with open hands and expectant hearts.Faith means trusting that God is working, even in the waiting. It means preparing ourselves not just for what is, but for what is to come—living today with an eye on eternity. As we move through this week, may we find courage to walk by faith, even when the road is uncertain. Let us be people who live with hope, who stay ready, and who trust that God’s promises are worth holding on to. Reflection Question: Where in your life is God inviting you to trust Him more deeply—and how can you take one small step of faith this week? This Week @ Stout Sunday, August 10th 8:45AM Contemporary Worship 9:45AM Sunday School 10:45AM Traditional Worship Monday, August 11th 7:00PM Troop 12 7:00PM Girl Scouts Tuesday, August 12th 2:00 PM Preschool Committee5:30 PM Choir Kick0ff Dinner6:00PM Pack Committee MeetingsWednesday, August 13th 10:00 AM Bible Study in Parlor Thursday, August 14th Friday, August 15th Saturday, August 16thNext Sunday’s Special Music is Rick PolingCOMING SOON!CHOIR BEGINS on 20thFriday, August 29thUMM Dirty Birds Baseball Game Trip Pastor Helen's Weekly Scripture Hebrews 11:1-3, 8-16Luke 12:32-40PHS Care Closet Back to School Drive Weekly Items!August 3 - PencilsAugust 10 - Spiral NotebooksAugust 17 - College Ruled PaperAugust 24 - Highlighters August 31 - 2 Pocket FoldersAnnouncements Take Me Out to the Ballgame!
