STOUT MEMORIAL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

Making Disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the World.

High Moments from our Retreat

Ken Willard, the Conference Director on Congregational ReNewal, led us in a very thoughtful and informational retreat this past Saturday with a follow-up on Sunday.

He encouraged us to change our mission statement to match the one that the conference uses which has a direct Biblical parallel in The Great Commission.  He also spoke of Vision which is what we will work on for the next several months.  He defined Vision as the WHERE God is calling us. We want to use picture words and have it be clear and challenging.

We came away with 2 areas to develop further.  One was to listen more clearly to what the community says is needed by our church.  Jeff Olson, Juli Cramer and Pastor Helen are on this team (others can certainly join in.)  The second is our need to find  a coordinator for children and youth ministries.  Robin Stemple, Kim Mommessin, and Nicki Montgomery are on this team.  The need for a coordinator is to bring along others to help.

The information shared is on newsprint attached to the walls in the Fellowship Hall. Also check out the Timeline that Robin and Debby made!
