Day 7 - Seven Proclamations: The Promise of Eternity

Seven Powerful Proclamations of Jesus on The Cross Devotional

By Rev. Myk Alba | March 31, 2024
Day 7: The Promise of Eternity
Jesus’ words on the cross were... Words of Reunion.
Luke 23:46: Father, into thy hands I commit my spirit.

Because of the finished work on The Cross, We can proclaim the Words of Jesus from The Cross over our life and affirming that We are reunited with Him for eternity!

The Commitment to the Father
As we draw near to the Cross, the emblem of our faith, let us meditate on the moment of divine surrender when Jesus entrusted His spirit into the Father’s hands. "Father, into thy hands I commit my spirit." With these words, He breathed His last, but His mission was accomplished—a bridge was built for our reunion with God.

This was not a moment of defeat but a profound reunion, the return of the Son to the Father, opening the way for us to follow. In the stillness of His death, the hope of our eternal life was secured.

Proclaiming the Words of Reunion Over Our Lives
Encouraged by Jesus' ultimate act of trust, we too can commit our spirits into the Father's hands, knowing that we are safe, we are loved, and we are His. The Cross is not just the site of Jesus’ reunion with the Father; it is also the site of our reunion with Him.

Because He committed His spirit into the Father’s hands, we can live with the certainty that we are invited to do the same. His words become our words, His trust our trust, His reunion our reunion.

Affirmation of Eternal Reunion
Let us affirm with bold faith: We are reunited with Him for eternity. Our lives are not aimless wanderings but purposeful journeys toward an eternal home with our Father. We live each day in the light of this reunion, which the Cross has made possible.

In the secure embrace of the Father’s hands, we find our refuge and our rest. Our spirits, committed to Him, are held by the One who is eternal, and in this commitment, we find peace.

Prayer of Commitment
Gracious Father,
In the sacred echo of Jesus' words, "Father, into thy hands I commit my spirit," we find the courage to entrust our lives to You. Thank You for the reunion made possible through the Cross. May this assurance shape our days, our decisions, and our destiny. Help us to live with the knowledge that we are forever Yours, from now into eternity. Amen.

As you hold this devotional close, may the commitment of Jesus on the Cross be the foundation of your trust in the Father’s hands. Rejoice in the knowledge that the Cross has secured your eternal reunion with Him, and let this truth fill every moment with purpose and every breath with peace.

As we fast and pray, may these devotionals for the next seven days bring us into an awesome wonder of Jesus, Our Lord, God, and King!
